A Tree for Henry

Many of you have now heard the heartbreaking news about Sarah's little Henry.

From Melissa at Pink Cat Studio ~

This week has been a very sad one as Pink Cat Studio DT member Sarah Anderson's 3 year old son Henry passed away. Little Henry was unable to overcome a virus that made him ill last week.

Lorie Ames has organized a way to donate for a memorial for Henry. Henry loved his local zoo and visited it almost every day in the summer. As a memorial, trees will be planted there in his honor.

Melissa at Pink Cat Studio has created a digital stamp to help raise funds for a tree for Henry.
All proceeds from the sale of the digi stamp, minus Paypal costs, will go towards the tree.
If you would like to donate towards the tree, please visit this webpage to purchase the digi stamp.

Another way to donate to the memorial is to print out this form and mail in your donation directly.
Please write on the form that the donation is for Sarah Anderson's son Henry.
Once all of the money is collected, a tree and location will be selected.
If you have questions about the form please contact Lorie Ames.
Lorie will be in contact with Sarah along this memorial journey to ensure that her wishes are followed.

Going Green!

Limelight Celebrates Earth Day!
Earth Day will be right around the corner (and Arbor Day, too), so we're thinking GREEN!
For this month's project the Limelight Chicks are making projects using recycled packaging, trees, etc...

I recycled my Prima Essentials 4 Dude packaging!
I washed out the packaging thoroughly and filled it with MnM's!



To embellish the container I tied 3/8" White Satin and 3/8" Reversible Lt Blue/Parrot Green Satin Ribbons at the top.
I added two primas from the Essential 4 Dude pack (these go great with the urban prairie papers!!) at the top left corner and added an Aquamarine Rhinestone to the center.



For the focal point, I stamped a tree from the Tiny Trinity set by Unity in Adirondak Espresso and paper pieced with Basic Grey Urban Prairie.
Then I stamped the row of rabbits from the Easter set by Pink Cat Studio in Taken with Teal.
I added a sentiment from Easter and cut out a butterfly from one of the papers in the Basic Grey Urban Prairie 6x6 pad.



For the gift card I again used paper from the Basic Grey Urban Prairie 6x6 pad to paper piece this cute bunny from Easter.
I added a yellow rhinestone (a great lemon-lime color) to the center of the flower and tied a Lt Blue/Parrot Green ribbon at the top.

Christmas Kitty isn't just for Christmas! That's what I LOVE about that set!

I started off using papers from the NEW Basic Grey Bittersweet 6x6 pad.
I added a strip of Fuzzy Dot Ribbon in Burgundy/Red.

Next I stamped the kitty in a present from Christmas Kitty by Pink Cat Studio and colored it with Bic Mark Its.
The sparklin' ribbon on the present is Pixee Stix Chocolate Glitter.

I finished it off with two buttons from the Basic Grey Bittersweet Buttons pack.

Here's my first one:

Oh how I love the kitty stamps by Pink Cat Studio!
This adorable image and sentiment are from the Christmas Kitty set.

I decided to go with non-traditional Christmas colors.
The super cute striped paper is Kaisercraft Sorbet Mint Fudge. Sounds YUMMY!
The pink piece on the top half is from the Basic Grey Sultry 6x6 pad.
AND, check out that totally fabu ribbon ~ Fuzzy/Center Dot Ribbon-Olive/Sage!!! Mandy has LOTS of NEW ribbons in the store so be sure the check them out!!



The sparkle on the tree is from Pixee Stix Silver Berry glitter.
There are 3 rhinestones under the sentiment for some dazzle.
The buttons in the lower right corner are from the Basic Grey Wassail Buttons pack.
And, I used two silver brads at the top.

On to card #2:



Isn't this angel so sweet? It's just so Christmas-y! It is the Luke 2:14 Glorious Angel by Unity.
All of the paper on this card (except for the chocolate chip scalloped circle) is from the Basic Grey Wassail 6x6 pad.

I stamped her onto the 'white' paper from the Wassail pad and then again on the 'red' paper from the Wassail pad so that I could paper piece the angel's dress.
When I paper piece, I like to run the pieces through my Xyron so that it's good and sticky all over so it sticks well and lays flat to the 'main' piece.



Her wings are covered with SHIMMERZ!
I used the Candle Light Shimmerz. One thing I like about Shimmerz is that the black lines that you paint over still show through. However, I did go back and trace the black swirls in the wings so that they would stand out a little more.

The ribbon is one of my favorite ribbons at Limelight: Brown/Antique Gold.
The buttons on this card are also from the pack of Wassail Buttons.
And, there are two gold brads at the top.

I did some paper piecing...stamped the duck on the Basic Grey Sugared paper and pieced the duck's hat and body and cupcake.



The strip with 'quack' is 'bowed' out some for dimension.

The panel of patterned paper on the right side of the card is Candles from the Basic Grey Cupcake collection.

My 'hardware' is a glazed brad from the Basic Grey Cupcake Glazed Brads in the middle with two white brads on either side.
